South Carolina is embracing the fall season with an array of exciting harvest attractions and agritourism events that celebrate the beauty and bounty of autumn. Fall Fun on the Farm at Clinton Sease Farm
Sept. 20 – Nov. 3, 382 Olde Farm Rd., Lexington
By day, Clinton Sease Farm in Lexington is the picture of autumnal bliss, with an expansive pumpkin patch, wagon rides and corn maze (this year’s configuration boasts a patriotic “Home of the Free” theme). By night, however, the farm transforms into the haunted attraction Deceased Farm, featuring six buildings full of scares, three terrifying outdoor zones and creepy corn fields. More info

Irmo Okra Strut

Sept. 27-28, 7507 Eastview Dr., Irmo

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the Irmo Okra Strut began in the 1970s as a fried okra fundraiser to build a town library. In the half-century since, it has grown into a two-day celebration of the verdant veggie via entertainment including a parade, live music, vendor stalls and — of course — okra every way you can eat it. Palmetto Tasty Tomato Festival

Sept. 28, 1645 Henderson St., Columbia

Back in a new location (and a new month!) following a two-year hiatus, the Palmetto Tasty Tomato Festival is stretching its vines across the grounds of the Robert Mills House and Gardens to offer tomato tastings, contests, competitions, live music, food trucks and other activities to last the whole day through. Cayce Fall Fest

Oct. 5, 1800 12th St., Cayce

Taking place at Granby Gardens Park, Cayce Fall Fest is a free, culturally diverse and family friendly event with live music, a DJ, delicious food and drinks (including beer and wine), and a variety of vendors. Kids will love the free activities, including face painters, balloon artists, a petting zoo, inflatables, a hayride and more. More info

Newberry Harvest Festival

Oct. 12, 1650 Dusty Road, Newberry

Enjoy an afternoon at Enoree River Vineyards & Winery with two live bands, three food trucks and 30 local vendors at the 10th annual Newberry Harvest Festival. This year marks the debut of the winery’s beloved Cranberry Wine for the season, along with refreshing Cranberry Wine Slushees. More info

Hilton Head Island Shrimp Festival

Sept. 21, 149 Lighthouse Rd., Hilton Head Island
Celebrate the harvest of the sea. Late summer and early fall is shrimp season on Hilton Head Island — and the annual Shrimp Festival is ideal for deep dive. Head to Harbour Town for this family friendly event featuring all-you-can-eat shrimp prepared by local chefs, in addition to craft beer from more than a dozen breweries, live music, kids' activities and specialty vendors. Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival

The Hilton Head Island Concours d'Elegance & Motoring weaves the inspiring legacy of automobilia with the peaceful resplendence of the destination’s scenic natural setting. North Charleston Harvest Festival
Oct. 21, Olde Village of North Charleston
Enjoy a vibrant fall festival featuring live music, an artist market and costume contests, a petting zoo and engaging children’s activities. Since it’s the spooky time of year, don’t miss trick-or-treating on the street with free treat bags for kids aged 12 and under (4-6pm, while supplies last). More info

Johns Island Harvest Festival

Revel in foot-stompin’ bluegrass music, pumpkin decorating, kids’ crafts and hayrides in this delightful celebration of fall. SeptemberFest & Duplin Winery Grape Stomp

What activity pairs perfectly with bare feet at Barefoot Landing? Stomping grapes! During the Duplin Winery Grape Stomp (part of Barefoot Landing’s SeptemberFest event) sees eager stompers grapes in celebration of the winery’s 47th harvest season. The Grape Stomp is $35 per person and includes the stomp, a bottle of wine and a wine tumbler. More info

Harvest Home Weekend at Brookgreen Gardens

Have you ever made your own scarecrow? During Brookgreen Gardens’ Harvest Home you can do just that. Craft your unique scarecrow with ready-to-assemble "mystery scarecrow" kits or bring your favorite outfits from home to personalize your creation. Take your scarecrow home for $7 — or take home for free if you bring your own outfit! The Harvest Home event also includes a hay maze, a pumpkin patch, face painting and more. More info

Halloween Hustle in Conway

The town of Conway, South Carolina changes its name each October to the town of Halloween, so it should come as no surprise that the city goes all out with spooky decorations! Along its pumpkin-lined streets, the town will host the first annual Halloween Hustle this fall. The event will consist of a 10K run, followed by a 5K and a 1 Mile; participants can run all 3 on the same morning to complete the 10.3 mile challenge and earn all four glow-in-the-dark metals. Sara’s Farm Adventure

All season long starting Sept. 19, 5150 Edgefield Rd., Trenton

Providing a hands-on, family-friendly attraction that serves as a reminder of agriculture’s importance in South Carolina, Sara’s Farm Adventure features pumpkin patches, tasty treats, a tire mountain, pig races, animal barns and paintball. It all adds up to an autumnal wonderland. More info

3rd Annual Corn Maze at Maxwell Farms
Sept. 27-28 & Oct. 11-12, 810 Maxwell Ave., Greenwood
Maxwell Farms is taking its annual corn maze event to new heights this year. In addition to the always-fun corn maze and wagon rides, the farm offers a kids’ zone complete with bounce houses and ziplining, food trucks, a photo booth and a petting zoo. You’ll also have the opportunity to shop from a variety of vendors, purchase pumpkins and mums and shop local goods at the Connie Maxwell store. More info

Autumn Candlelight Tour at Ninety Six National Historic Site

Windy Hill Apple Harvest Festival

Fall weekends beginning Sept. 6, 1860 Black Hwy., York

During this event, you can pick your own apples at one of York County’s finest orchards. But that’s just the beginning. Head over to Windy Hill’s Cider Bar for tastings of their very own Hard Cider, hear excellent local musicians performing live and browse the farmstand for fresh, to-go goods. More info

Black’s Peaches Fall Festival

Saturdays in Oct., 1800 Black Pkwy., York

A hands-on agritourism adventure, Black’s Peaches’ annual Fall Festival brings together the best of autumn, from corn mazes and pumpkin patches to cow milking and corn shelling. The whole family will come away from the event with a greater appreciation of South Carolina’s farmers. More info

Cherry Place Farms Fall Festival

Starting the first weekend of October, Cherry Place Farm is open to the public on Saturdays (10am-6pm) and Sundays (1pm to 6pm) for its fall festival. Enjoy a family-friendly, self-guided tour of the farm that features the two-acre corn maze and pumpkin patch. More info

McLeod Farms is a family-owned and operated farm that has been specializing in year-round produce since 1916. With 10 acres of crops and 15 pumpkin varieties to choose from, this Chesterfield County spot is a haven for pumpkin pickers — grab a wheelbarrow and clippers before making your way to the field to cut your own.
